Pine Needle Tea
Pine needle tea is made from (surprise!) pine (Pinus sp. needles.
Apart from not tasting too bad (I kind of like it, but opinions differ),
it contains significant amounts of vitamin C, and some carbohydrates.
Both things that are good to stock up on, especially in winter
Procedure
- Take about 3 dl (about 1 1/4 cup for the metrically
challenged) and clean out all junk. In particular avoid leaving the
branches in there, since the sap tends to give a "turpentine" taste. If
you have the time and energy you can chop the needles...
- Bring 0.5 liter of water (1 pint) to a boil.
- Add the pine needles to the boiling water.
- Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
